The Beauty of Japan Captured on Video

If you are a regular reader, I probably don’t have to tell you that Japan is a beautiful and interesting country.

I try my best to show you this through my photos, but you’ve probably noticed the lack of videos. I admit that I neither have proper equipment nor the necessary skills or knowledge to present you great, self-made Japan videos. Although I’d love to.

Instead I thought I should share one of my favorite Japan videos with you.
The creators of this awesome video asked me if I would feature it on my blog, but I had already shared it on social media long before that. So, of course I would! emoticon

All the photos you see in this blog post are screencaps of the high quality video and thus copyrighted by AmnesiArt.

AmnesiaArt’s Awesome Japan Video

AmnesiArt is a film and Fine Art photography production composed by Nick Arcivos and Ryan Earl.
They mention that their first stay in Japan has allowed them to discover its rich culture, its fascinating architecture and friendly people.

And that’s exactly what you can see in the video. Their fascination comes through in breathtaking pictures so that even “little ol’ me” was impressed.

A tiny critique would be that they present an image of Japan that’s already in the head of most people anyways.
You all know that I always try hard to show you Japan beyond that.

However, the pictures, camera motion, music … the whole composition is so lovely! And to me it seems like I can experience Japan through the eyes of a first-time visitor which makes it special.

Japan – A Journey Between Tradition and Modernity:

Before I spoil all the fun, watch the video first and judge for yourself.

Let me see how much you already know about Japan!
Did you recognize any sightseeing spots?

Ok, it’s actually fairly easy as the video features the typical tourist attractions such as Tokyo (e.g. Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, Roppongi), Kyoto (Kinkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Gion) and Nara (Todaiji). I purposely didn’t mention everything, so feel free to share other things you could spot in the comments below! emoticons

Kinkakuji a.k.a. The Golden Temple in Kyoto

The creators say they had the urge to capture the special atmosphere of Japan and share it with the world.

They wanted to let people discover the wonders offered by the land of the rising sun – through its gastronomy, architecture and culture. Their intention was to show the harmony of coexistence between tradition and modernity. In my opinion they managed to do that. What do you think?

AmnesiArt had in mind to seduce not only fans of Japan, but also people who don’t know this wonderful destination yet.

I think that’s awesome as they got a lot of quality feedback already from all over the world. And I couldn’t be happier that more people got interested in Japan after watching this great Japan video! ^__^

My Favorite Scene in the Video:

Someone like me who has travelled to all 47 Japanese prefectures and explored over 100 Japanese castles can’t be impressed easily anymore.

Of course, the Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto looks stunning. Yes, Tokyo Tower and Sky Tree are great landmarks. But I’ve seen all of these things a million of times already.

So, my favorite scene in the video was actually the one you see in the photo above with the two cute cats on a cherry blossom tree. It’s no secret that I’m a cat lover and in spring I always try to get some cat x sakura shots. emoticons

What was your favorite scene in the video?

What are your favorite Japan videos?

I know there are just as many awesome Japan Youtubers as there are Japan bloggers (and I’ll make sure to gradually introduce them to you). It’s probably hard to choose only one video out of the many, but I’d love to watch the videos you like the best! emoticon

  • It was really beautiful! I don’t watch many videos of Japan like this either, because I’m more interested in the non-cliche things that happen, but every once in a while something beautifully-done like this comes along. I liked it a lot! ^^

The next time that I go to Japan, I hope to start a video series of my travels, that show more of the journey as opposed to just the sights (since the journey is unique to the person making it, but the sights can be seen by anyone who goes there). But I still have a lot to learn to be able to do it so beautifully! ^^

  • Thanks for sharing!
Really a wonderful video, of great quality and music is so nice
That’s why I love so much Japan.
I visited all these places …
I miss Japan so much

  • This sucks…. I’ve been living in Japan since December but unfortunately have to leave in September of this year. Although I’m enjoying it as much as I can I’m feeling depressed of the thought of returning to the states!

    • Nicholas,
Why do you have to leave? Are you coming back anytime soon?
Of course, I understand that you are feeling depressed, but try to make the best out of the time you still have in Japan!
Take lots of photos and also videos, meet friends, enjoy Japanese food.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. I’ve seen it for the first time and I think it’s one of the best Japan videos out there. I also recognized some sights and I really liked the cats too, so cute. I also liked the shot of the Hachiko statue and as a dog lover I can’t wait to see it myself. :)

As for other Japan-related videos: travel-wise I liked the Japan videos of Mike and Leon in Tokyo. Those guys are really funny. And I saw a good video where someone took lots of photos in Japan and made a video out of that. But I can’t remember the name of that video. Anyways, thanks for the video recommendation, I liked it a lot.

PS: do you know other videos which are similiar to AmnesiaArt’s one?

  • It’s beautiful..the only thing that kills the movie is that music doesn’t really represent Japan..it’s more suitable for China. :) But I agree with you that Japan is a beautiful country..

    • @ yumitolesson

the producers of the video said that the music is from a swedish band, so it isn’t chinese at all. And I think this kind of music (with an asian vibe to it) sounds way better than the usual noisy techno whatever music that many people use in their japan travel videos. Although I must admit that I can’t discern if a song sounds japanese or chinese to my german ears. :D

    • That’s a really nice Tokyo video indeed.
It represents Tokyo well, but not necessarily the rest of Japan.

Thank you so much for sharing your favorite Japan video! :D
